UNIVERSITY PUTRA MALAYSIA
This was held at UPM, Serdang, about a 45 minute drive from KL and this event was on Sunday which coincided with a kind of sporting/cultural activity going on at the uni. It was a long wait before we could begin the sound check for the ICOM band since the college event had already begun and various college groups were marching past a panel of judges showcasing in athletic and gymnastic maneuvers whatever muscle or arm they could twist and shout. For the crew it was a spectatorial event as they watched the various groups trying to outdo each other. It was an event filled with confusion, anticipation and a soaking tear down, on the other hand it was also a colorful event since the students were wearing a color-coded attire and they seemed to be really enjoying whatever was happening on stage if it was a mere sound check. The competing bands were hesitant and had to get into the act of performing and were a bit nervous. Overall, it went fine with three bands 'somehow' making it to the finals.
...follow the leader!
...the fairy for the day.
...alright already!
The ICOM band in action
Humour in excellent uniform!
After an unusually early finish, tear down began with the clouds getting darker and darker above until they finally gave way and caught the sound crew off guard.
Braving the rain, they donned their raincoats and carried on work relentlessly, eager to get back home.
Shir Li enjoying the hydraulic controller
UPM SOUND CREW trying not to give the bird.
Another interesting event which had a wet finish!
